Opening Day

Inspired by the Blessing Box on 5th Street in Durant (installed by the local Boy Scouts of America troop) and in an effort to meet the needs of community members facing food insecurity, a group of dedicated and talented individuals banded together to open the Durant Iowa Food Pantry (DIFP).

Grand Opening

October 23, 2023

With more than 50 individuals in attendance along with respresentation from local and state elected officials, the grand opening event was an opportunity for local leaders and community members to view the pantry, hear about the services provided, socialize, and come together in support of an important cause.

245 Individuals

First 3 months

Within the first few months of opening, the Durant Iowa Food Pantry served 245 individuals and 97 households more than 9,000 lbs. of food.

Additionally, withing the first 3 months of opening, the Durant Iowa Food Pantry (DIFP) logged more than 19,000 volunteer hours.
